November the month of the union at Unilever

In November, the CNV trade union organizes the month of the union. Come, bring your colleagues who are not yet members and get to know the union while enjoying a delicious traditional Dutch product. Please forward this newsletter to your colleagues who are not members of CNV. We will visit 5-11 Rotterdam Air, 20-11 Wageningen and 26-11 Rotterdam Hofplein, all around lunchtime. The first year of membership of CNV is free, because your employer pays for this for the new member!

CLA versus statutory regulations

The existence of a trade union and having a collective labor agreement is not self-evident, as is often thought. Your terms of employment are collectively regulated in the Unilever collective labor agreement, but this is not required by law and does not come about just like that. The union needs members for that. We make agreements with Unilever on behalf of the union members, for example about your salary, holidays, allowances, wages in the event of illness and pension. Without a collective labor agreement, you fall back on what is regulated by law:

Statutory minimum wage: 14.40 euros per hour (Unilever collective labor agreement: 14.82 euros to 29.35 euros per hour)
Vacation days: 4 times your weekly working hours (Unilever collective labor agreement: 32 to 80 hours of extra vacation)
Overtime compensation: nothing regulated by law (Unilever collective labor agreement: 50% to 360% of the hourly wage)
Wages in the event of illness: 70% continued payment of wages (Unilever collective labor agreement: 100% continued payment of wages)
Pension: not obliged to offer (Unilever collective labor agreement: Unilever pension fund)

In short, do you want more than you are legally entitled to? Then this must be arranged through the collective labor agreement and for that we need CNV members!

When will we come by?

  • Wednesday 5 November Rotterdam Air around lunch time
  • Thursday 20 November Wageningen around lunch time
  • Wednesday 26 November Rotterdam Hofplein around lunch time

We are ready to explain what a trade union does and what CNV can do. Of course we answer questions and we can support you with the registration of a new member. Register your colleague as a new member

Without members, no collective labor agreement. With members, a better collective labor agreement. So register your colleague as a new member as soon as possible via With your colleagues we are stronger. Invite them! | CNV. This can also be done on the spot when we visit. If you register your colleague as a new member, you will receive a gift voucher of 20 euros. The first year of membership of CNV is therefore free for the new member, because it is paid for by Unilever.
