Fair Work Academy: Global Training to Strengthen Labour Rights

Visit Fair Work Academy

In an increasingly interconnected and complex world of work, access to high-quality training on labour rights and trade union action remains a challenge for millions of workers. In response to this reality, CNV Internationaal has launched the Fair Work Academy (FWA), a virtual platform designed to democratise knowledge and strengthen capacities at a global level.

The Fair Work Academy is CNV Internationaal’s online training campus. Its purpose is clear: to expand access to training processes that strengthen both individual and collective labour rights, as well as workers’ capacity for organisation and negotiation across different labour contexts.

A platform to democratise training

One of the main contributions of the FWA is its inclusive approach. Through this platform, both unionised and non-unionised workers can access relevant training content, overcoming geographical, economic, and organisational barriers.

This model significantly broadens the reach of training, engaging a global and diverse audience and contributing to the development of a more informed and connected labour movement.

Pedagogical innovation for decent work

The Fair Work Academy embraces an innovative methodology based on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). Its virtual learning environments are designed according to international standards that ensure accessibility, usability, effectiveness, and efficiency.

This approach not only facilitates access but also promotes transformative learning processes, centred on participants’ experiences and the practical application of knowledge.

Content to strengthen rights and trade union action

The courses and resources available on the platform address key issues in today’s world of work, including:

  • Strengthening individual and collective labour rights
  • Trade union action and its tools for defending and advancing rights
  • Due diligence and monitoring in supply chains, with a particular focus on sectors such as palm oil and bananas

In this way, the FWA contributes to equipping workers and organisations with concrete tools to influence their labour contexts.

Multilingual access and complementary resources

To broaden its impact, most FWA content is available in English and Spanish, with plans to incorporate French in the future.

In addition, the platform includes a digital library that brings together reports from the Fair Work Observatory and results from participatory monitoring processes. This repository is emerging as a key space for sharing knowledge and evidence on labour conditions across different sectors.

An invitation to learn and transform

The Fair Work Academy is consolidating itself as a strategic tool to support CNV Internationaal’s training processes worldwide. Through it, the aim is to strengthen the capacities of workers and organisations in negotiation, rights defence, and the construction of fairer working conditions.

CNV Internationaal invites all interested individuals to explore and make use of this platform, which will continue to expand its content offering to respond to the challenges of work in the 21st century.
